Cardamom has been called the “queen of spices” for ages, and it’s a key component in Indian masalas. It is obtained from dried, mature fruit pods of a plant from the ginger family. It’s used to flavor dough, pastries, cakes, and pies throughout Scandinavia. In addition, cardamom is used to flavor chai tea in India and coffee in the Middle East.
